Introduction

In the sims 2, sims can aquire a variety of different skills. The first type is basic skills. Basic skills are the types of skills that you can view by clicking on the career panel of your toolbar. There is 7 types of skills: Cooking, Mechanical, Charisma, Body, Logic, Creativity, and cleaning. The second type is hidden skills:

Basic Skills

Cooking
To gain the cooking skill, you do just that, cook. While cooking, the small blue skill bar appears above your sims head and when it's full, your sim gains a skill. Now, you don't have to slave over the stove all day and end up with a million meals just to increase your skill.You can also go to the bookcase and select, "study...Cooking". There are various ways to cook. You can use the stove(most common), barbeque, counter, Blender, and coffee machine. Children can gain it by cooking with the kids stove.

Mechanical
To gain the mechanical skill, all you have to do is repair things. Broken items, like fridges, stoves, dishwashers, TVs, bathtubs, toilets, computers, robots, and microwaves. As with cooking, you can also gain this skill by selecting: "study Mechanical".

Charisma
Charisma is gained by Going to a mirror and selecting, "practice speech" or "practice Romance". Toddlers can gain charisma by playing with the wobblin wabbit(?) head. Another option is toPutt with the Execuputter, a business career reward object. Once you reach level five in the business career track, you have earned the Execuputter and can place it anywhere on your lot. Use the "Putt" interaction to build charisma skill and satisfy fun at the same time.

You can also use the Enterprise Office Concepts Bushmaster Tele-Prompter. This object can be acquired when a Sim reaches level five in the politics career track. Sims can use it to "Practice Speech" as they do with the mirror.

Body
body skills are gained by purchasing an excersise machine, jumping rope, working out with the radio, working out with the television, swim in a pool, doing yoga, or using career reward objects such as the exerto selfflog obstacle course and the exerto punching bag. The punching bag can be acquired by a Sim who reaches level five in the athletic career track, while the obstacle course is acquired by a Sim who reaches the fourth level in the military career track.

Logic
you can gain the logic skill, by doing the crossword in the newspaper, by using the telescope, and by playing chess. Another way to achieve logic skill points is to wait until it is about 7PM, then click the ground and select stargaze.

Creativity
to gain the creativity skill, you can use the art easel and create paintings. You can also play a musical instrument, or sing on the mic (if you don't have university expansion, you can only play the piano. The last way is to write novels on the computer. To do this, you have to purchase a computer.

Cleaning
To gain the cleaning skill, you have to do just that: clean. You can clean the bathtub, toilet, counter, sink, stove and shower. You can also study this skill in the bookcase.

Hidden Skills

Sims 2 also has some skills that you cannot see. We call these hidden skills. they can earn you scholarships, stop sims from laughing at you, and even earn you simoleons!

Homework
The First hidden skill is homework: When your kids come home from school, direct an adult to help them with homework. Eventually, they will be able to do it much faster and more efficiently alone.

Dance
To build this skill, just direct your sim to the radio and click "dance-solo". At first your sim will look like a buffoon when she/he dances, and other sims will laugh but eventually he/she will get better and look cool when they dance. If your sim is a teen, they can get the "tsang footwork award" of 1000 simoleons if they have a high dance skill.

Pool
To build the pool skill, you have to buy a pool table first. Have your sim practice, practice, practice. If your sim is a teen, this could earn them the Phelps-Wilsonsoff Billiards Prize. Your sims can also hustle other sims.
